The History

Cyberpolis,

a world inside a world; the internet. Cyberpolis was a game created 19 years ago by a group of people referred to in the Game as the Legendary characters of ERAs 01, 02, and 03. Since then, the Legendaries have retired and vanished from the world, some to become hidden Admins never seen by real players, some to just disappear without a trace...

Because people could only join Cyberpolis one month of each year (to stop overcrowding) it was a slow process of poison; by ERA 7, hackers had found their way into the peaceful Cyberpolis, slowly destroying its beauty year by year. It was also around this time that a group of angry players got together, outraged at these internet criminals, and decided to create a secret 'player only' organization dedicated to hunting down and destroying each and every character they deemed to be breaking the rules and ruining the once amazing Cyberpolis. They called this organization VIRUS.

Unfortunately, the members of VIRUS were inexperienced, young, and angry. This led to many characters being deleted that were actually innocent; some only having done minor crimes and either not realizing it, or planning to fix it later were also deleted. To have your character's data deleted was not like being killed, no, being killed in the game means you are sent back to your last save point. To be deleted is to loose everything and have to wait for the next year to join again with a brand new character because the old one no longer exists.

Outraged at what they thought were unfair methods, the Admins of Cyberpolis formed their own organization and named it FIREWALL. Its duty was to hunt down and capture the members of VIRUS and hold their data in a heavily protected 'Jail' until they either reformed, or were deleted themselves.

Over the years, both teams grew in members, cunningness, and abilities; neither could completely erase the other. And so it is a continuous battle between the organizations VIRUS and FIREWALL that still continues even now.

Who will you be? Will you fight for the good of others as a Firewall? Will you battle against Hackers as a Virus? Or will you be a watcher as a Civilian?

Welcome to iAntiVirus.

VIRUS

History
Virus began in Era 8, when after Eras of inactivity from the Cyberpolis Company Administration (CCA) and Eras of watching hackers abuse the system, harm the innocent, and glitch the world they loved, a small group of players decided that they'd had enough. It was time to take matters into their own hands and cleanse the world of these malicious hackers. A player by the name of Torn developed code that gave him and those like him the ability to permanently corrupt and delete another avatar from the game. With this weapon in hand, Virus started a revolution.

Under the leadership of the Overlord (Torn from Era 17-Era 24), Virus grew into a vigilante force that hunted down malicious hackers, aggressive PKers, and anyone who sought to harm the world of Cyberpolis, the place they called home. If the CCA wasn’t going to protect its people, then Virus would. At times they were aggressive, more so than they would have liked. In the beginning, Virus' methods could sometimes be sloppy, with innocent members either getting pulled into the organization or deleted in the haste to rid the game of hackers. However, Virus has long since streamlined their methods of hacker elimination, maintaining their goal of making Cyberpolis a fair game for all players.

Still, despite their longing for justice, their actions have acquired numerous enemies over the years. Virus is the enemy of hackers, but they are also the enemy of the CCA as well as their alter ego organization: Firewall. Many Eras of conflict with the latter have resulted in grudges held on both ends. Following the Easter hacker attacks and server crashes of Era 24, Firewall and Virus formed an alliance and aided one another in a joint base while on the old servers. However, despite Virus' best efforts to maintain peaceful and fair relations, Firewall took the first step and broke the truce when one of their spies deleted a member of Virus in cold blood. Needless to say, any trust between the two organizations was broken, and the organizations severed their bonds.

Currently, Virus operates on its own, standing strong and proud in spite of Firewall. It is currently lead by a council of its Combatants, due to the disappearance of the Overlord in Era 24. They rebuild and move on, having never lost sight of their goals or their resolve. Though Firewall will always pose a threat, Virus keeps its sights locked on the hackers and anyone else that would disturb the peace. While Virus no longer follows a strictly 'delete on sight' policy for hackers, they will not hesitate to delete anyone they deem as a threat to Cyberpolis.

Overlord
There is only ever one Overlord, and they are in charge of the entire organization. The Overlord directs the other VIRUS officers and tells them which avatars to strike at, makes important calls regarding assassinations, and is the final word in disputes. No one ever knows the Overlord's real name, but they will have access to all of the information files on each and every one of the members in VIRUS. The Overlord has the ability to track any members' whereabouts merely by locating their Zirus weapons and Shield and has absolute power over the organization.

Currently, this position is unoccupied. During the server's crash and rebuilding, as well as the temporary alliance's formation and break at the end of Era 24, the Overlord vanished and the seat has not yet been filled.

Weapons & Armour
The weapons are specially made for VIRUS members. In Cyberpolis, when an avatar dies its reset to its previous saved place. However, the weapons have been equipped with a virus, codenamed; Zirus. What the virus does is that it hacks the player's IP address and deletes their account when the avatar is destroyed, making it so the user can no longer log in [and if they wanted to make a new account they'd have to wait a year for that]. Virus members also need a second weapon to use in normal battle as their Zirus weapon can only delete members.

With the arrival of the Deletion Keys in FIREWALL, VIRUS has also stepped up their defences and created the Zirus shield. This Shield acts as a defence against deletion much like the FIREWALL armbands do. It takes the form of a specific symbol, the VIRUS crosshairs, and must be somewhere on the uniform either embedded directly into the clothing or on an accessory such as a belt, pendant, armband, etc.

Zirus
Created by Torn, the main power behind Virus lies within Zirus. The regular Zirus is given to trainees promoted to Underlings. Zirus weapons works much like the training Zirus as it can be customized into almost any kind of weapon that fits the user best, even a gun with Zirus bullets, and most weapons often coordinate with their user's choice of colors. The deletion code in these weapons can be activated and work by hacking into the target's IP address and deleting them. Those without a shield and items are deleted instantly when hit with a Zirus activated weapon, while others with a shield must be delivered a fatal blow. If the environment is hit with the Zirus code, it may leave scar marks. Zirus weapons cannot be combined with a skill, otherwise the deletion code will simply deactivate. If their weapon is picked up by someone other themselves, it automatically deactivates. Additionally, a Zirus weapon cannot make skin contact with it's user or they'll risk losing a limb.[Zirus © Pepse]

Security Measures
When you are a VIRUS member, none of your fellow members know your real username; this is for safety purposes. If FIREWALL got a hold of your username they could locate your IP Address and terminate your account. The only one who knows all usernames is the Overlord; so instead, all VIRUS soldiers go by codenames that they can choose for themselves. All call-signs follow the pattern of an Adjective + a Noun, [E.g. Violent Pillow, or Silver Spoon].

Uniforms
The uniforms main purpose is to help hide the Virus member's identity. It's equipped with a 'scramble' hack so people can't just right click on the avatar and view their info. They're only to wear their uniforms when on missions and when in the VIRUS base. When they are off-duty, they are supposed to wear their Civilian attire. The design of the uniform has a basic format but can be altered to suit your character, [e.g. skirt, shorts, long pants etc]. The colours are black and any chosen neon colour.

Ranks

Trainee--- Lowest
Underling
Minion
Fighter
Combatant
Overlord --- Highest

Rank Details & Duties:
Trainee (5th Rank)
Trainees are the Rookies of the organisation. They handle basic administrative paperwork, do grunt work and dirtywork and jobs that no one else wants, and spend their days training with un-activated Zirus under the tutelage of a Minion. After they have proven themselves to be trustworthy and relatively dedicated, they are promoted to Underling.

Underling (4th Rank):
Underlings are the rank above Trainees, fresh out of evaluation with activated Zirus weapons. The officers of this rank fall into teams of three that are led by a Minion that reports to their own Fighter. Underlings do a fair amount of the grunt work, but this time they get to go on basic missions with their team to learn the ropes of what it's really like to be in VIRUS.

Minion (3rd Rank):
Minions are the Underlings who have shown responsibility, skill, dedication, and a certain level of trustworthiness. Like the two ranks below them, Minions are assigned into three-man teams under the supervision of a Fighter. Often times, they will pick up extra work as assigned by the Fighters in charge of them and due to their place in the middle of the totempole, get slated with some of the "just important enough to be boring" jobs. Minions, in preparation for climbing the ladder, train teams of three Trainees in the proper use of their Zirus, the responsibilities of being an Underling, and the morals and values becoming of real VIRUS officer. Minions probably have it the hardest because they are the middle rank, looked up to by the Underlings and Trainees and scrutinised by the Fighters and Combatants.

Fighter (2nd Rank):
Fighters are highly trusted officers within VIRUS. Working under the Combatant in charge of their Division, they often take on secondhand leadership roles and are the leaders of the three-man Minion teams. Fighters oversee the training of the ranks below them though most specifically the Minions. For missions, Fighters work in teams of two plus a Combatant usually, but other missions can be done solo. They are often allowed to perform interrogations and executions, although more dangerous situations are often left to the rank above them. There are two Fighters per Division at any given time, and in the stead of a Combatant to lead a division, two fighters are able to lead in their place.

Combatant (1st Rank):
The Combatants are the right hand officers of the Overlord. They are the most trusted and skilled in all of Virus and have proven their worth in their respective departments during their time of service to the organization. Combatants report directly to the Overlord, work together to lead Virus during the leader's absense, and oversee the training and supervision of all of the rest of the VIRUS ranks. They are able to take on the most important and risky of missions, oversee the interrogation and capture of dangerous individuals, and each of them is in charge of leading and organizing one of the eight Divisions of Virus.

Overlord:

FIREWALL

History
Firewall is a military-esque organization that protects Cyberpolis and its players from hackers and Virus.

In the beginning, when an underground player-based organization called Virus had been formed and went on a spree of destruction, they deleted the data and all the avatars they believed didn't deserve to be in Cyberpolis. Angered that this organization called VIRUS had decided to play god, the Administration formed their own organization dubbed FIREWALL in order to hunt down the VIRUS members and see to their deletion from the game.

However, in ERA 22 after Virus's raid on Firewall, Firewall broke from the Administration when they discovered that the Admins of Cyberpolis were only using them and Virus to make more money. Firewall is now acting entirely of its own free will and have refocused their goals.

Following the Christmas hacker attacks of ERA 23, FIREWALL and VIRUS teamed up to fight together in an alliance. Together in ERA 24 the allied groups fought off the hackers' attacks during the Easter Sunday Tragedy and the server crash at the end of ERA 24. That server crash brought a temporary beta server meshed together from the previously crashed server of ERA 17 before the reset and brought the two groups colliding together in a joint base. However, tensions were high and as time went on it became clear to the Admiral of FIREWALL that VIRUS was severely lacking in strength. After locking and conversing with the hacker head known as "Hallie", the Admiral discovered that the true target of the Hacker group was not Cyberpolis but the Cyberpolis Company Administration themselves. This knowledge and the actions of VIRUS led him to end the truce. There was a brief chaos before the servers reset and things returned to normal, but FIREWALL had severed ties with their rival Organization once and for all.

In order to protect civilians, Firewall primarily targets extremely dangerous hackers and members of Virus, preferring to lock and deleting only when absolutely necessary. Furthermore, Firewall protects harmless hackers who are threatened by Virus and also fixes hacked damage done to the world of Cyberpolis. To them, there is no "true enemy". They only do what they must to protect others and ensure that Cyberpolis remains a safe and healthy environment.

Admiral
There is only one Admiral, and they are in charge of the entire organization. Nothing happens without the Admiral's direct approval. Before, no one but the Generals spoke with or saw the Admiral, but since Admiral 332, also known as Pheonyx, this has changed. The Admiral has access to all of the information files on each and every one of the members in FIREWALL and has the ability to track their whereabouts merely by locating their Keys or Shields. There have been three Admirals of Firewall before now [Admiral 1, Admiral 037 (Tech), Admiral 332 (Pheonyx)].

The current Admiral is 1880 (Henrik).

Weapons & Armour

The main weapon of Firewall: The Locking Key.
In order to combat the VIRUS weapons, FIREWALL soldiers were given a large key that they must push into the VIRUS member and turn in order to lock their account, essentially putting them in an internet jail where they can be processed. Firewall uses locking keys to give Virus members a chance to be tried and interrogated before being deleted or sentenced to indefinite imprisonment. When not being used, the Key shrinks to become something of the soldier's choosing; an earring, necklace, ring, hairclip, etc. Firewall locking keys will shatter to the avatar's wire frame. When the key is turned the avatar's coding will shimmer, pulse up and around the wound. In a flash of cmyk'd numbers and pixels the avatar will be transported from the area to the Firewall jails.

All members of Firewall possess locking keys, but the locking keys of Privates are not activated until they become Cadets unless there is an emergency. Until then, they are encouraged to use them for training.

For deletion of immediate threats: The Deletion Key.

During the ERA 17 Invasion, a new type of key was created that could enable Firewall members to delete other players instead of just locking them. This way, immediate threats that were clearly Virus members could be taken out. After the Invasion the Deletion Keys only became available to the Firewall Lieutenants and higher ranks. Firewall deletion keys will shatter the avatar skin layer and show the coding beneath. When the key is turned the avatar will disappear in a flood of pixels.

Cadets and Privates are not allowed to delete and the Deleting Keys of Lieutenants are only activated during missions.
Security Measures
All FIREWALL members are usually called by their rank plus a number [e.g. Trooper 123]. This is so VIRUS members cannot use other methods to hack into their accounts; but because the numbers are sometime hard to remember, soldiers are more often then not given nicknames by their comrades.

Uniforms
The uniform's two main purposes are to help hide the FIREWALL members' identities and to give them an armour defensive against most VIRUS deletion attacks. The uniforms are equipped with a 'scramble' hack so people can't just right click on the avatar and view their info. It also has built-in anti-viruses to deflect VIRUS weapons; though they will not last being hit too many times and must be brought in for repair as often as possible. Uniforms are only to be worn while on duty for security reasons. When a FIREWALL member is off-duty, they must wear their civilian attire. When on base, uniforms must be worn at all times.

The design of the uniform has a basic format but can be altered to suit your character, [e.g., skirt, shorts, long pants, robes etc]. The colours are white (the majority of the uniform should be white, they are always made from white cloth primarily) and any chosen colour. You can have more than one other colour but it must be obvious which one is your main secondary colour. For example, your uniform can be white with red and gold edges but there must be more red than gold if red is your secondary colour.

On your uniform, you may also display the number of stars associated with your rank. The stars are usually found on the collar, each shoulder, or the cuffs of the uniform. You can find out how many stars your rank has above. You are not required to wear these stars during missions but it is highly recommended that you wear them on base.

Hierarchy

Private -- Lowest
Cadet
Lieutenant
Commander
General
Admiral --- Highest

Rank Details & Duties
Private (5th Rank):
Privates are the rookies of the organization. They handle basic administrative paperwork, do grunt work, and spend their days training with un-activated locking keys (they can take key form but cannot lock yet) under the tutelage of a Lieutenant or other higher ranked officer. After they have proven themselves to be trustworthy and relatively dedicated, they are promoted to Cadet. All Privates begin in the Common Duties Department.

Cadet (4th Rank):
Cadets are the rank above Privates, fresh out of Basic Training as it were and have active Locking Keys. The officers of this rank fall into teams of three that are led by a Lieutenant that reports to their own Commander. Cadets do a fair amount of paperwork and are still grunts, but now they get to go on basic missions with their team to learn the ropes of what it's really like to be in FIREWALL. Cadets are still considered to be in training at this point. They are also able to join whatever Department they wish.

Lieutenant (3rd Rank):
Lieutenants are the Cadets who have shown responsibility, skill, dedication, and a certain level of trustworthiness. They are the officers who have completed their training and are ready to become more important members of Firewall. Like the two ranks below them, Lieutenants are assigned into three-man teams under the supervision of a Commander or other high ranking officer. They have a lot of paperwork that comes with their added responsibilities. Lieutenants, in preparation for climbing the ladder, train teams of three Privates or Cadets in the proper use of their keys, the responsibilities of being a Cadet, the importance of the FIREWALL uniforms, and the morals and values becoming of a real FIREWALL officer. Lieutenants probably have it the hardest because they are the middle rank, looked up to by the Cadets and Privates and scrutinized by the Commanders and Generals. Lieutenants, like Commanders and Generals, also have a Deletion Key except theirs are only activated by their superiors for special high-risk missions that require the use of such keys.

Commander (2nd Rank):
Commanders are highly trusted officers within FIREWALL. They have loads of paperwork and are the leaders of three-man Lieutenant teams. Commanders oversee the training of the ranks below them though most specifically the Lieutenants. For missions, Commanders work in teams of two usually but other missions can be done solo. All Departments have two Commanders who work very closely with their Generals and assist them to the best of their abilities.

General (1st Rank):
The Generals are the right hand men and women of the Admiral. They are the most trusted and skilled of all of the FIREWALL officers. Generals report directly to the Admiral and oversee the training and supervision of the rest of the FIREWALL ranks. As far as missions go, only those that are of the utmost importance are given to the Generals. Despite all of this and their mountains of paperwork, some Generals take it upon themselves to hand-pick members of the lower ranks to train personally. These personal Cadets usually only answer to their General and are often pulled from regular duties to train or perform missions with their Superior. Every General is in charge of one Department and are expected hold Department meetings, work with other Generals and the lower ranks, and to be the role models for the rest of Firewall.

Admiral:
There is only one Admiral, and they are in charge of the entire organization. Nothing happens without the Admiral's direct approval. Before, no one but the Generals spoke with or saw the Admiral, but since Admiral 332, also known as Pheonyx, this has changed. The Admiral has access to all of the information files on each and every one of the members in FIREWALL and has the ability to track their whereabouts merely by locating their Keys or Shields. I'm not sure how but I think my registration did a thing. I never received a confirmation email and tried to ask it to resend it, but still nothing. I can''t see anything without confirming to be able to log in, so I'm not sure who I should be contacting about this.

Hi! I want to join the era 25 but havnt created a character yet ^^; I have read a bit on some info on iantivirus and was wondering about the character names. IS there any requirement for a virus protection name other than it has to be an adj + noun? Thanks (:
